So, it's been a while since I have given an update on the lives of the kiddos so I thought I would write a little bit today. CR is becoming quite the young lady. She is finally starting to settle into her new life here in the country. We have managed to "find the kids" here and she has spent the year trying some new things. She just finished her first year of dance. While she struggles a bit with the dance steps, she has her mother's grace unfortunately, she has learned a lot this year and made some great friends. She has also been taking swimming lessons. This is a big one for CR because a year and a half ago she didn't want to go in the bathtub! Last night was our last class for the summer and she independently swam, with a bubble on and mom right there, for the whole half hour! She even tried her hand and "jumping in the pool" from the bottom step to get in. She has also kept busy taking her sister to playgroup twice a week and going to storytime. She is all about imaginative play and dollies right now. She is trying on different professions: pirate, doctor, teacher, mommy, daddy, grandparent, baby, cowboy, firewoman and superhero. She is a great big sister and tries to share with her little sister, it's a little harder now that her baby sister can say what she wants! CR helped Miles and I plant the garden and helps to remind me to water the plants. She is looking forward to a trip to the beach and being in her uncle's wedding this summer. In the fall, she will be starting preschool!! I cannot believe it!!! This is a big step for her and one that she is a little nervous about. Miles and I took her for a visit about a month ago and she really enjoyed it. The school is located in the nursery at church so the location is familiar and she knows some of the kids from her play group are going to be attending that school as well.
Can you believe that this one is one? What a year! I know everyone says this, but we just can't imagine life without this little ball of fire. RC is quite the one year old. She is on the verge of walking and anyday I'll be going gray. She took about 4 steps the other night because she was extreemly unhappy that I had put her down. She surprised even herself with that one! Even at one she has a LOT of personality. She loves animals. She and Annie have a special relationship but she also likes any cats and dogs. We have to watch her because she wants to pet every thing. She also has several words, what can I say, we make talkers. Mamma, Daddy, that, Kitty, DeeDah (CR/sister), Dogdo, thank you and nay-nay. She is also quite proficient at pointing and yelling very loudly for what she wants. She is a woman who knows her mind and you just have to respect that. She loves to play with her sister and most of the time she can keep up, which can be tough on the big kid. RC loves to play outside and sing. I catch her singing songs from swim class or ones that she sings with her Oma and Opa all the time.
As a family, we have a big summer planned. Miles' brother is getting married, Auntie Mamee and her family will be visiting and we are spending a week at the beach with Auntie Kate!
We'll keep you posted!
